Powder - Super Ski Extreme
Skiing across land laid with snow and ice has been around at least
4000 years , with evidence found in Norwegian stone carvings of
men hunting on what have been established as early skis. Further
finds found in Sweden and Russia have also been dated to the same
period.
More recently , about 75 years ago , alpine skiing was a venture
practised by a few hardy souls in half a dozen mountain resorts in
the European Alps , where inns and hotels had just begun to stay
open in winter. The popularity of skiing has today exploded such that
there are now 40 million or so alpine skiers covering some 300
resorts across forty countries.
Away from these resorts there are a number of elite skiers that take
this pastime to the extreme , even flying by helicopter or climbing to
remote mountain slopes and skiing the untouched powder.
This DVD features these elite skiers who show death defying skills as
they plunge down the mountain slopes , jumping from cliffs and over
gorges and even perform acrobatic twists in mid air.
