The History of Boxing presented by Sir Henry Cooper

The story of boxing is a comprehensive history of the toughest
sport in the world - the only sport in fact that can never be
called a game.

Presented by the British Heavyweight legend Sir Henry Cooper
starts with the earliest moving images from the turn of the 20th
century capturing greats such as Jack Johnson , the first black
heavyweight champion through to the "Manassa Mauler" Jack
Dempsey and his eventual conqueror Gene Tunney as well as tough
challengers such as Frenchman , George Carpentier.

The story of boxing also looks at the fights and careers of the great
champions outside the heavyweight division including heroes such
as Jimmy Wilde , Benny Lynch ,  "Kid" Berg , Randolph Turpin and
American stars including Sugar Ray Robinson and "Homicide" Henry
Armstrong.

The golden years of the 1970s are recalled through the fights of Ken
Norton , "Smokin" Joe Frazier and George Foreman with a special
extended profile of the "greatest" himself , Muhammad Ali.

The miraculous middleweights of the 1980s from both sides of the
Atlantic are not forgotten either. The memories will come flooding
back when tracing the careers of the greats of the fights game
including Nigel Benn , Chris Eubank , Tommy Hearns , Marvellous
Marvin Hagler , Roberto Duran and Sugar Ray Leonard.

Finally , we will take an enthralling look at such modern legends
as Prince Nassem , Oscar De La Hoya , Lennox Lewis and Feliz
Trinidad plus a glimpse of those who may one day become great
champions themselves.
