The Shabab Oman Tall Ship is an impressive barquentine built in 1971. Barquentines are sailing ships with three or more masts. This ship started life as the three masted topsail schooner Captain Scott and operated Outward Bound courses off north west Scotland. After a number of years service she became laid up but was eventually sold to the Sultan of Oman in 1977.
The Shabab Oman Tall Ship is a regular in the Tall Ships Races and is the pride of the Royal Navy of Oman. She is easily identified under sail since her topsails are adorned with the red dagger and crossed swords which make up Oman`s national emblem.
